HOLY CRAP THIS IS COOL!

My friend sent me this in an email so i'm just going to copy it in here....it's great!

Suddenly the shoreline north of Sydney were transformed into the Cappuccino Coast. Foam swallowed an entire beach and half the nearby buildings, including the local lifeguards' centre, in a freak display of nature at Yamba in New South Wales. One minute a group of teenage surfers were waiting to catch a wave, the next they were swallowed up in a giant bubble bath. The foam was so light that they could puff it out of their hands and watch it float away.

It stretched for 30 miles out into the Pacific in a phenomenon not seen at the beach for more than three decades. Scientists explain that the foam is created by impurities in the ocean, such as salts, chemicals, dead plants, decomposed fish and excretions from seaweed. All are churned up together by powerful currents which cause the water to form bubbles. These bubbles stick to each other as they are carried below the surface by the current towards the shore. As a wave starts to form on the surface, the motion of the water causes the bubbles to swirl upwards and, massed together, they become foam.

The foam 'surfs' towards shore until the wave 'crashes', tossing the foam into the air. Whitewash: The foam was so thick it came all the way up to the surf club 'It's the same effect you get when you whip up a milk shake in a blender,' explains a marine expert. 'The more powerful the swirl, the more foam you create on the surface and the lighter it becomes.' In this case, storms off the New South Wales Coast and further north off Queensland had created a huge disturbance in the ocean, hitting a stretch of water where there was a particularly high amount of the substances which form into bubbles.
Boy in the bubble bath: Tom Woods, 12, emerges from the clouds of foam after deciding that surfing was not an option
As for 12-year-old beachgoer Tom Woods, who has been surfing since he was two, riding a wave was out of the question. 'Me and my mates just spent the afternoon leaping about in that stuff,' he said. 'It was quite cool to touch and it was really weird. It was like clouds of air - you could hardly feel it.'

Children play among all the foam which was been whipped up by cyclonic conditions

Moving

Just a heads up....I started writing this on Dec. 19th and finished Jan. 5th....yeah

Ok so for the past couple weeks we have been moving our stuff from storage and into our new place...it's been pretty nice to move things in and get them all settled and organized, by the time we actually start living there, it will be like we have been there forever which is pretty cool. I swear though, next time we are getting movers. Doesn't everyone say that when they move? Seriously though we are going to next time. Each time we move we get into a bigger place, get more stuff...yadda yadda yadda....I feel like we get rid of tons of stuff before we move though so I always think...oh it wont be so bad...and this time it really has been easier, i just dont like having to make a million trips to the storage unit across town...oh did i mention we havent gotten a truck? We havent. I think we have gotten about everything possible that we can fit into our car and Dan's dad's little truck and we just have the big stuff which we were planning on moving this weekend, but its raining cats and dogs. Are you freaking kidding me? We have had the keys for nearly a month and we still arent moved in yet. It's really ok, just the longest move in in history. I'm going to be so glad to finally be settled....whenever that happens.

Mean Green Machine

Peas! Peas! Peas! Peas! Eating Goober Peas! Goodness how delicious! Eating Goober Peas! My brother and I use to sing that silly song when we were little and it so works for our little goober...I mean bella girl.

Ok so Bella as dainty as we thought she was has taken a turn. The other day she grabbed the spoon from me again and was pretty much done so I decided she was having a grand old time anyway, and I hadnt eaten dinner yet so I let her play with her food....the following body painting ensued....

Homeless No More!

WE JUST GOT THE KEYS TO OUR NEW TOWNHOME!!!!!!!!! Ok so it's not really ours, we are renting, but still! HOORAY!!! We got a great deal also, there have been a lot of upgrades made to the place and it is really cute. I'll get some pix up when we move all of our stuff in. Our rent is only $1650 a month which is a freaking steal! We have been living with Dan's parents in San Jose for the past 2.75 months trying to find a place to land...Dan has been commuting to Concord every day....it's about an hour-ish which compared to our commutes in the OC is not bad at all...at least he is constantly moving ya know? Anyway, the location is great, it's really close to the practice, Dan can even walk there if he wants to. We were going to have to buy another car if we were further away from the practice...no bueno! So now we can save money for a car and a house....we are hoping the market continues on its current course and the price of housing continues to drop in the area so we can get into something great within a year or so.

Snow for Christmas

We are going to my brothers wedding in Logan Utah the weekend before Christmas....does that seem like a good time to get married to anyone else? :) I can totally see how it would be for them because they are students and they will have a nice long honeymoon before school starts again. :) It's just going to be tricky. I just wish that we didnt have to travel with everyone else and their mother. I really am very excited! From what I have heard it has been snowing like mad and they are expecting a whole lot more. We'll see how we survive! Usually towns that are use to snow handle it better....unlike Tehachapi that closes down when the wind blows....literally. My biggest concern is keeping Bella warm....I've gotten some baby uggs and a thick coat and hat and gloves for her and everything. We have been in California for so long, I'm affraid of weather that is under 50 degrees! What a wimp! I'm sure we'll manage somehow...but just in case we are frozen in a block of ice and no one finds us for a few thousand years...it was nice knowing you! :)

First Christmas Present

My mom sent Bella a Christmas sweater in the mail and it was all wrapped up so cute...I handed it to bella and she was like....you're handing me paper??? FOR REAL???!!!! She was so excited.....

HOORAY!!!!!!!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOOK!!! PAPER!!!!

What? More??

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

OOOH Pretty!

:)

PERFECT FIT!!!!!!!!!

My mom has been saving this sweater for a year...good thing she sent it when she did, it's perfect. GOOD JOB GRAMMA!!!!

I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good

Ok so I gave Bella some cubes of butternut squash for lunch and she really didnt care for it much. I tricked her into eating a few chunks and then she was done with me and wanted to feed herself. So I was watching her eat and right before she got the chunk to her open mouth she would drop it in her lap and then pretend to eat and make the yummy sounds and everything. Meanwhile the other hand was hard at work mashing up the rest of the squished squash and storing it to the back of her head. I'm not even kidding. Is this normal? Do kids do this a lot? Because really every day shes coming up with something new. At least now she is letting me dig out the pieces of paper and whatever else she puts into her mouth and even shows me some of them before she tries to put them in so I know when she is up to something.

Ward Christmas Party

Last Saturday was the ward Christmas party and it was a lot of fun! We set up before the party and had a jolly good time with everyone. Its so nice to be in a big ward again. We are still in Dan's parents ward and I think everyone thinks we are in the ward for good....oh well! :) Its pretty fun, there are a lot of us with babies under 1 year old...at least 7 of us so the mothers lounge is always crowded. There is a play group that meets every Tuesday and Wednesday and we are planning a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium...that place is SO AWESOME! Anyway! Back to the party....

Wow, my timing was off on this one. SHE IS SUCH A HAM NOW!!! When she sees the little red eye light flashing she hams it up big time and cheezes for the camera! She cracks me up!

Party Pooper!!! Who is that cute guy???

Ok this isnt a great pix of my friend Allie, but this is Bella's friend Claire and her Family. Bella and Claire are a month apart and they like to steal each others toys. There is one toy in particular of Claires that Bella loves and she steals it every week at church. Claire then pulls Bellas hair and since Claire cant crawl yet, Bella pushes her over, takes all her toys and bolts. We are working on this problem. but we all laugh anyway! :)

oh my gosh, this group of guys got up on stage and performed, they were HORRIBLE. And when I say horrible, I mean I wanted to cut my ears off they were so bad. They kept starting on the wrong keys and oh man they were ALL off key and they kept starting over and over and it just kept getting worse. The sad part is that they are pros and they thought they were good. Someone should let them know before they go on american idol with everyone else that thinks they can sing.

CHEESE!!!!! Bella loves her daddy, its really cute to see, for a while she would push him away whenever he tried to hug her or kiss her and for the first few months dan thought she hated him. Poor guy! No worries now!

Now for my favorite part of the night....

SANTA!
Claire didnt last long on Santa's lap...probably a whole 5 seconds. The funny thing is that ALL the partents brought their babies up at the end and ALL the babies SCREAMED at the poor guy. Just like in the movie a Christmas story...but I think if I saw that Santa I would scream for my mommy too! You have to have a pix of yourself crying on santas lap at least once in your life.

Ok so far so good

ok...guy with a beard...that's wierd...i think i can, i think i can

HOLY CRAP!!!

Bella made it through the night, and hopefully will get over her santa complex in the next few years.

Self Feeding

THANK YOU!!!! About a week ago Bella decided she didnt want me to feed her anymore. I was beginning to worry because she wouldnt eat very much and then steal the spoon from me. I thought maybe that she didnt like the food I was making her anymore or something so I just let her play with the spoon or the food and then I would bottle feed her or nurse her. Then I realized, DUH she wants to feed herself.....so I started giving her little bits of banana which didnt work very well because it got everywhere. And every other time we tried letting her eat on her own she would choke on something so I was totally freaked out by this. Don't worry, she is a pro now! I've given her lots of new things and she really doesnt care what she eats as long as she gets to feed herself. Seriously I'll try and put something in her mouth and she pushes my hand away, looks at whatever I have and then grabs it and puts it in her mouth herself. It's really kind of cute. OH my, I have given her some cheerios (which i'm not doing anymore because they have a lot of salt...anyway) she pinches the cheerio and nibbles it and finally after about 6 bites she is done. Shes so dainty! it's adorable. We ran into someone at Baja Fresh that had a little boy a month younger and 2x bigger than bella and his mommy told me about these gerber graduates puffy crunchy things. They are mostly made of fruit and veggies and wheat, but they are great, they dissolve in your mouth and most importantly Bella loves them. I can actually have a warm meal and everyone is happy. OH HAPPY DAY!!!

Bag of Tricks

Tonight at the dinner table right after we started to say the blessing on the food, Bella realized what we were doing and folded her chubby little arms. It was so cute! I have been trying to get her to do it for a while now and usually she just sits there quietly and stares at everyone wondering what the heck we are doing. She has been so perceptive lately. Last night we were playing around and I tilted my head back and laughed and she copied me a few times. She did it w
hile she was standing up and fell straight back! lol poor thing. We have been trying to get her to blink on command, she will do it randomly when she is playing and loses her balance. It looks like she has something in her eyes and she still wont do it when you say, "blink!" but we're working on it.

Another thing I have been trying to work on is baby sign language. I know a lot of signs and I use them with her but I dont think she is getting it yet. Maybe she is and my timing is off or something anyway, i'm going to try and take pix of her new tricks in action tomorrow.

OH YEAH!!! Biggest and best trick, she is starting to walk! She will stand by herself for a while and kind of wabble towards me or something she is close to. She tries to bend over and pick something up off the ground while she is standing and then totally eats it! She also walks from one piece of furniture to another if they are only like 2 feet apart....she will walk around things and she took 3 steps from nonna to me a few days ago. She also tries to dance! We sing and dance all the time and she thinks its so funny. WHAT A HOOT!

HGTV I love you so!

One of my favorite things to do is watch HGTV and get design ideas for my future house. Since I currently do not have a house, and we are staying with our in-laws who just moved into a house, I've been able to practice on theirs! It has been so much fun!!!! I am still learning and trying to figure things out on my own, (Who needs directions!) I think I'm doing a great job. My mother-in-law, Elisabetta and I have been working on things together and trying to make her tuscan/country/not so 80's anymore kitchen and it's nearly done. HOPEFULLY it will be done for Thanksgiving. I'll at least have pictures of everything by then. So far we have made sheer pannels and valances for the windows, accessorized, gotten new dishes and silverware and rearranged things. Its really only a facelift since they havent decided what to do for cabinets, counters and flooring so we've been trying to keep everything versitile in case they decide to change things. I'm learning so much! HGTV.com has some great "how-to" videos, you can take quizes to find your style and more and you can check out designer portfolios and even create 3-d designs of the rooms you want to makeover and probably a lot more that I havent even discovered yet. HGTV.com is a great site and I highly recommend it for your next do it yourself project!

oh bella

Wow, the past few days have been....crazy.

Not so good news first:

Last night we had our first visit to urgent care. Bella has had some gastro intestinal problems for like a week and a half and had bloody mucus in her diaper about 3am night before last. So I called her pediatrition in Bakersfield (who later told me to find a dr. in my area and hung up on me) and they told me to take her to the ER. So I'm freaking out, and I dont have a car. My in-laws left work early and took us to urgent care which we couldnt find and had to go to a few buildings before we got there only to find that it was in the first building we went to. GOOD GRIEF. Long story short, she is ok, she had a little tear and she is healing well. However a few minutes ago she had a diaper with a few balls of paper inside. so that could perpetuate the problem. THIS GIRL IS OBSESSED WITH EATING PAPER! and she is really good at sneaking it and either scarfing it down before we can get to her or thowing it behind her back and pretending like she didnt have it in the first place. what a nut! :)

So today we were shopping and I was putting Bella into her stroller and I needed to adjust the safety belt, so as I was doing that Bella was leaning forward looking at something on the ground which she often does and I didnt really think anything of it, I was right in front of her. All of a sudden she fell head first onto the asphalt and I didnt catch her fast enough and she bonked her head. OH MY GOSH! I felt so horrible and I felt like child services was going to pop out of the bushes and take her away from me. She is ok, she has a nice goose egg on the right side of her forehead and it's all red so I'm sure the bruise is going to look really nice. One of many times I'm sure.

Now for the good news!

Bella is amazing. I know everyone thinks their kid is the baby genious of the century but I think mine wins. Lately she has been "talking" a lot. She says Mom and momma and Da-Da all the time and wow and a few other things but a few weeks ago Grandpa got her a little leap frog barn animal thing that you can mix and match front and back ends of the farm animals they make the sounds and it sings..."You put a duck in front, you put a cow behind, put them together and what do you find? A duck cow! That's silly!" Anyway Bella has been making weird sounds all the time which she loves to do while shes crawling around at turbo speed or in the middle of sacrament meeting or sunday school right as everyone is falling asleep.....So the other day when she was playing with the toy after each of the sounds she would do her version. IT WAS SO CUTE!!! THEN, after playing with the cow she said "'ow! 'ow!" right after the toy said cow. I know to everyone else that is crazy boring, but as a stay at home mom that doesnt talk to anyone but her 8 month old all day long, I think it's awesome!

Other good news:

Dan started working at his practice solo today. That's right HIS practice! :) He is doing such a great job, I'm so proud of him. Things are going well so far. Just basic buisness transfer chaos, but really everything has gone surprisingly well and we are really happy that we have made the move up here. Dr. Scheirman (Sherman) has been so nice and so helpful with the transition and just wants to see the practice thrive and make sure it keeps going strong. Dr. S's mentor has been coming up from san fran and talking with Dan and working with him and giving him tips on how to build things up and ideas for competitions for the personal trainers. They are going to have a competition to see what trainer can refer the most patients in to the practice and the prize is a trip to a resort or something cool like that. Isnt that fun? I'm so happy with the way things have started out and super excited for the things to come. good and bad. :)

SHAKEDOWN AT THE PUMPKIN PATCH!!!

Well, we procrastinated this year as all good people do, we finally went to the pumpkin patch tonight to get our pumpkins for the trick or treaters to smash into bits tomorrow. I think I'm going to do my traditional barfing pumpkin. I always have grand schemes for like the best carved pumpkin ever, but I always get mad and end up carving 2 eyes, a huge hole for the mouth and pull all the goop and seeds coming out through it. I LOVE IT! Always a winner.

So this afternoon my mother-in-law and I went to the pumpkin patch to stake out the good pumpkins before we went tonight with our hubbies and to take some pix of Bella. It was kind of cold and she was a little more interested in all the other kids and the train and "old faithful" erupting every 15 minutes than the pumpkins. Despite that, we got some really cute pix....check them out.........

Yes, I did make my daughter lay on a pile of baby pumpkins. But I made sure all the stems were facing down so it wasnt so bad. She didnt seem to mind. I was a little more worried about her falling off the large pumpkin I made her ride like a pony! lol She is great. So we went back to the pumpkin patch at like 8 o'clock after Dan got home from work and were taking pix on a bail of hay when all of a sudden....

EARTHQUAKE!!!!!!!!!
Check out the pix you can see the expression on my face change when it starts....

We were sitting there talking and taking pictures and then all of a sudden it started rumbling and then it got stronger and stronger and it all of a sudden felt like we were on a water bed and like we were on a job site and large heavy objects were being dropped and then the poles holding up the lights that were strung over the patch were swaying back and forth. IT WAS SO AWESOME! I couldnt really imagine a cooler place to be. It was pretty safe too since we were in an open area.
Everyone around us started freaking out and everyone with a cell phone was on it trying to get through to someone which of course didnt work because everyone in the Bay Area was trying to do the same thing so the network was down. Somehow after 10 minutes of trying to get through to my mom I got a hold of her, but after that the system was down again so I'm glad I got to talk with her while I had a little window. This has us seriously thinking about getting our food storage together and getting super duper walkie talkies so that we can get in touch with our families in case "the big one" hits. yikes!

We got home and turned on the news and they said that it was a 5.6 quake. We still havent felt the aftershock yet so I'm sleeping in my clothes just in case we have to bail. Dave (Dans younger bro) was home when it happened and he said he felt the little rumble and then there was a big bang and it kept getting worse and worse. They have vaulted cielings and Dave said the whole house started to sway so he bolted outside. SCARY!!!!

Here is a pix if you can see it of the richtor scale and link to an article about the quake if you want to read all about it! :)

The End

Go Red Sox! Go Red Sox! Go! Go! Go Red Sox!

Jumpin Jellyfish!!!! I'm happy to report as you must all know that the Red Sox Swept the Colorado Rockies at the World Series. Hip Hip Hooray! Blast! And my little Bella just broke a key on my husbands laptop. Hunny if you read this before I talk to you, I'm very sorry, but its a key that we dont use anyway so hopefully we can fix it without much inconvenience. ANYWAY!!!!!!! YEAH RED SOX!!!! It's amazing what they can do now that the curse of the Bambino has been lifted. I really didnt watch the full games. Like I could with a little baby crawling all over the place, but i watched the highlights on sports center and checked the scores on my cell phone...does that make me a bad fan? Oh well!

Bella looks so much bigger to me lately. I swear she has grown a few inches since we left Tehachapi only a month ago. Her 8 month B-day (oh my gosh!!!) is Sunday and I need to take her to the Dr. for her checkup but I don't have doctor here yet and I'm worried that we wont qualify for the insurance we have anymore since dan has a new job sooooooooo I'm tempted to pull a Cristin and drive to Bakersfield to Bella's old Dr. Is that totally crazy? I can see driving 2 hours or so...but it's like 4 hours down there. And I would be driving to the middle of nowhere by myself with a baby. hmmmmmmmmmm. Probably not a great idea.

Saturday was the Fall Festival for my In-Laws ward and it was a lot of fun. I made Bella's costume and she dressed up as a Ballerina...a bellarina! :) we always call her that. I wanted to dress her up in something that wouldnt freak her out and would be really cute so that made the most sense. I kind of did things the hard way. I totally could have just made a tutu and had her wear a onesie underneath but since i have no life i decided to make the liatard as well. It was a lot of fun and i think if i have time i'll make the costumes every year. I'm sure that by the time we have more kids I will have changed my tune and my kids will be lucky if they get to wear a burlap sack and go as a sack of potatoes for halloween. I put my kitty ears on her so she would come to me. i think the black eyeshadow and ears really freaked her out, but when she saw that they came off it was all ok!

Boston Red Sox

So in honor of the Boston Red Sox I decided to change my blog until they win the world series this year. Then I thought who am I kidding, that will never happen! :) They are a great team and I must confess I totally jumped on the band wagon the year they "reversed the curse" what a great season! Kiss it yankees! :) If you havent seen the movie Fever Pitch, I highly recommend it. It's pretty funny and all about a major Red Sox fan. Anyway GOOD LUCK TOMORROW GUYS!!

Iron Chef America

For those of you who have always wondered about Iron Chef America I researched the behind the scenes info tonight while....whilst?....whilst we were watching tonights show. Every time we watch, dan asks, "How the heck do they always know EXACTLY what to make and how do they have the perfect ingredients?" well duh they let them know ahead of time but heres how it works.....

In each episode, chefs have one hour to cook and improvise a multicourse meal around a theme ingredient that must be present in each dish. Before the actual taping, the chefs are given a short list of possible themes, allowing the producers of the show to get any ingredients that may be needed. Judges' primary goal was said to be determining which chef was able to "best express the unique qualities of the theme ingredient." In rare cases, the format changes.

Now you know the secret! for more info check out...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Chef

Ok so my aunt bonnie sent me these videos (ABOVE) of my cousin's football games. he is pretty awesome. the announcer made a mistake, it wasn't actually an interception that he made...it was a blocked field goal...then he ran 88 yards with the ball and made a touchdown! GO # 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAN ROCKS!!!!!!!

ok so u can check out dans practice at: http://www.diablosportandspine.com/ it is located in Mavericks Sports club and that site is: http://www.maverickssports.com/ it's not officially his until the end of the month and dan isnt on the site yet, but at least u can see where it is and what its all about!!!! a

So random

We need more signs like this in the world! Dan and I were driving through his old neighborhood in Sunnyvale and saw this sign and had a good laugh! :)
ok and i've been looking for a book my gramma use to read to me called arty the smarty and i found a good copy of it on the internet for $560.00! So i called my gramma and told her to save her copy for me so i want all of you to know i have dibs on it!! :)
So yesterday morning they closed down one of the freeways up here for like 3 hours. First they said there was a dead animal in the road, then it was debris....well it turned out to be a dead body! apparently a guy asked a truck driver for a ride and he said no and the guy held on to the back of the truck without the driver knowing for 20 miles before he lost his grip and died on the freeway. isnt that sad? the only thing they were saying on the news yesterday was that it was debris though. silly people.

Bellarina

ok so i took this video on my phone and its not very good, but the star sure shines bright! GO BABY GO!!!!

Bella just started crawling last week, she started scooting just before the move and right before her 7 month birthday on the 4th of October....SHE DID IT!!! she's awesome, she is pulling herself up on everything and prefers to be standing whenever possible. she enjoys playing with phones and remotes, loves music and tries to sing along, she is loving eating solid foods and is getting really good at eating with a spoon. she HATES avocado. we tried giving her some when we went out to eat and it didnt go over very well, it kept coming back to haunt her for like 5 minutes. i know it's mean but i'm going to try giving it to her again when we have a video camera at the ready. She has 4 teeth now, the top 2 are about a third of the way down and she has 4 more buds that we can see on the top row so they should be poking through soon.

So long, Farewell, Aufweitezein, Goodbye!

Now it's time to say goodbye, to old Tehachapi...G-O-O....D-B-Y-EEEEEEE goooooood byeeeeeeee Te-haaa-chaaaa-piiiiiiii! ok so finally our time dwindeling in the desert has come to an end! Just when our street was newly paved and has, dare i say it? sidewalks! and tehachapi is now the proud host to police men and women...12!!! LOOK OUT!!! it's gettin crazy!!!!!! I think this place is just too big for us now. yeah right!!! i'm so stoked to be shaking the dust of this crummy little town off my boots! :) We have been looking for a new position for almost a year now, and finally the right opportunity has presented itself! :) We are buying a practice in Concord, CA it's in the bay area for those of you that dont know where it is. It's located in a Gym called Mavericks Sports Club, i'll see if i can find a pix. and it's called: 'Diablo Sport and Spine'. How cool is that??? the doc that is there is just a year older than dan, he's started the practice 6 years ago and totally loves it but is homesick, he's from canada and is ready to go home. Soooooooooo Dan is there now and they are transitioning 'Dr. Darren' or 'Dr. D' out. he's the nices guy and he has been saying really great things about dan to his patients so they feel more comfortable with dan. it's awesome. A week and a half ago we moved up to San Jose and we are living with Dan's parents for a while so we can get our feet under us and find a good place to live in the area. we're really excited to get settled....especially dan, he's sick of having to commute again! :) We are really going to miss the friends we made in Tehachapi, but i have a feeling we're always going to be in touch! :)
